3,000 Programs Planned at Iran’s Mosques on Islamic Revolution Anniversary

As the Ten-Day Fajr (Dawn), marking the anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution approaches, an official said 3,000 programs are going to be held in mosques across the country to mark the occasion.

AhlulBayt News Agency: As the Ten-Day Fajr (Dawn), marking the anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution approaches, an official said 3,000 programs are going to be held in mosques across the country to mark the occasion.

Speaking at a press conference in Tehran on Monday, Hojat-ol-Islam Ali Mollanouri, head of the mosques committee of the Ten-Day Fajr Commemoration Headquarters, underlined the unparalleled role of mosques in the victory and continuation of the Islamic Revolution.

He reviewed the historical role of mosques and said mosques were the main centers of the formation of the Islamic Revolution.

Although the Islamic Revolution was the product of the struggle of all segments of the people, the role of mosques and religious institutions cannot be underestimated as it was unparalleled, he stated.

Referring to the continuation of this role after the revolution, he added that during the period of sacred defense, mosques were the place to prepare and dispatch volunteer forces and collect donations. “In the post-war period, wherever there was a crisis in the country, mosques, in addition to playing a religious and cultural role, were places to help people overcome that crisis.”

He pointed to the recent unrest in the country and emphasized that in these riots, mosques were one of the places that were targeted and attacked. “For the first time in the history of the country, attacks on sacred places such as mosques were carried out on a large scale, and this is the biggest sign that this conspiracy and sedition were the work of those outside our civilization and cultural sphere.”

In another part of his speech, Hojat-ol-Islam Mollanouri announced the preparation of more than 3,000 programs in mosques across the country, as well as international programs in 100 countries to commemorate the revolution’s anniversary.

The overall goal is the enthusiastic and conscious presence of people in mosques so that the message of the unity and strength of the Iranian nation can reach the world, he said.

Every year, millions of Iranians across the country observe ten days of celebrations marking the anniversary of the victory of the 1979 Islamic Revolution that put an end to the monarchy of the US-backed Pahlavi regime in the country.

The day of Imam Khomeini’s return to Iran (February 2 this year) marked the beginning of the Ten-Day Fajr, which culminates with rallies on the anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution on February 12.

The Iranian nation toppled the US-backed Pahlavi regime 47 years ago, ending the 2,500 years of monarchic rule in the country.

The Islamic Revolution spearheaded by the late Imam Khomeini established a new political system based on Islamic values and democracy.
